Palm Springs (Monday Art Challenge Week 8)

In researching Palm Springs, I found a lot of fascinating architecture, somehow gaudy yet restrained at the same time. It’s a sort of strategic Kitsch, with pops of color amid angular, white stonework on the exteriors, and all manner of aesthetics for interiors speaking to an opulence with just enough sophistication to keep out the Camp. I decided to make 2 for this one because I loved the two reference images I found, but had trouble combining them into a single composition. I was also tempted to make another 3D model for this one, but that would have taken a very long time as I probably wouldn’t know when to stop, albeit I’d only be showing the front of the house.
