Desert (Monday Art Challenge Week 2)

Pernille Ørum's Monday art challenge offered "Desert" for its second week. At first I was going to make a companion piece to Champagne, contrasting the luxury and opulence with some kind of pathos, but that felt even tackier than a two-story champagne glass hot tub. Instead, I opted to remake an old piece I made based on a short film from Goeblins. Protocol Sandwich (https://youtu.be/-BGofwTTUNY) has a beautiful Claire Ligne style, reminiscent of TinTin comics or the various works of Moebius.
I added a few details and cleaned up a lot from the original illustration (Paper doesn't really have layers and the opacity of its paint roller tool has a beautiful mind of its own), but otherwise it's the same spirit, only now done in vectors. I didn't mention it in the Champagne piece, but unless something else strikes me, I intend to tackle all of the Monday Art Challenges as vector illustrations. It's something I don't do enough of it and lately it's been hitting that sweet spot between my spontaneity and my perfectionism.
